Earth Day activities at HCC

Hagerstown Community College Science Club will sponsor the following Earth Week 2007 activities.

All week:

Week-long recycling drive - Drop off recyclable plastic, glass, aluminum and mixed paper to the science building lobby during Earth Week. For a small fee, the science club will collect computers, computer accessories, and used cell phones for recycling.

Monday, April 16

Water conservation awareness - A guest speaker will talk about how actions affect the earth's water system and how to reduce water waste.

Tuesday, April 17

Free notebook giveaway - The science club will make and distribute free notebooks made from recycled paper collected on campus (one side clean).Available from noon to 1 p.m. in the lobby of the college center.


Wednesday, April 18

Free bike repair - Bring your bike to campus and get a tune-up. This event is designed to encourage more people to ride their bikes. Tune-ups available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friday, April 20

Last opportunity to drop off recyclable items. The drive ends at 3 p.m.

Sunday, April 22

Appalachian Trail hike - Join the science club on a hike to Weverton Cliffs. The activity is open to the campus community. For information, call 301-790-2800, ext. 584.
