Photo contest attracts 72 entries

April 12, 2007

HANCOCK - The response to the 2007 Hancock photo contest was beyond expectations for the quantity and quality of the photos entered, according to the judges of the annual competition.

A total of 72 photos was submitted this year, and the judges met April 4 to select the winning and honorable mention photos for exhibition and publication.

The formal exhibition at the Hancock Library is limited to the 10 pictures selected by the judges as finalists. The announcement of the winners by the mayor is scheduled for May 12 at 1 p.m. at the opening of the library display.

Additional entries are on display at a downtown storefront (formerly Jim's Game Room).

The sponsoring organizations include the Hancock Arts Council, Hancock Chamber of Commerce, The Hancock News and the library, according to Sam Judge, contest coordinator.
