Ringley leads Warriors past South

Bridgette Ringley struck out six in a complete game and Boonsboro took advantage of seven South Hagerstown errors in an 8-4 MVAL Antietam win over the host Rebels on Wednesday.

Ringley had two hits for the Warriors (2-3, 2-1).

Desiree Giffin had two hits for the Rebels (3-3, 2-2).

Williamsport 10, Brunswick 0

WILLIAMSPORT - Emily Myers hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to lead the Wildcats to an MVAL Antietam victory.

Jessica Bennett went 3-for-3 with a double, Beth Decker went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Casey Siler was 2-for-3 with two RBI for Williamsport (4-2, 3-1).

Catoctin 6, North Hagerstown 5

THURMONT, Md. - Kyle Sanders had two hits, including a game-winning three-run double in the bottom of the sixth, as Catoctin defeated North Hagerstown in an MVAL Antietam game.

Danny Miller, Zack Little and Steve Owens each had two hits for the Cougars (4-3, 2-1).

Cadyn Robinson had two hits and two RBI for the Hubs (5-2, 3-1).

Colleton County 17, Hedgesville 7

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Trey Cushwa, Mike Ferrari and Chris Scanlan each had two hits for Hedgesville (3-8) in a loss to Colleton County (S.C.) in the Batrup Tournament.

Beall 7, Musselman 5

INWOOD, W.Va. - Mark Darlington had two hits, including a home run, and four RBI and Ethan French and Ryan Shade each had two hits for Musselman (5-7) in a loss to Beall.

On Tuesday, Darlington had two hits and three RBI and Jeremy Cunningham had two hits and two RBI but Musselman surrendered five runs in the final two innings in a 10-9 loss to host Moorefield.

Cunningham and Blaine Coates combined for 12 strikeouts and Jesse Miner had two hits for the Applemen.

SAINT JAMES - Cyrus Morgan had three goals and P.J. Mara and Troy Gogoll each had a goal and an assist as St. James fell to Sidwell Friends (2-4, 0-0) in the Mid Atlantic Conference.

Henry Warner had added a goal and Nick Beardsley had eight saves for the Saints (7-1, 1-1).




GIRLS LACROSSE



Mercersburg 12, Cumberland Valley 3

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Gwen Buss had four goals and two assists to lead Mercersburg Academy.

Jenn Dillon and Jenelle Paolini each had three goals and two assists for the Blue Storm, while Mary Lancaster had a goal and two assists, Megan Dent-Carman added a goal and Stephanie Seibert had seven saves.




GIRLS SOCCER



Whorten to play for Virginia Wesleyan

North Hagerstown senior Courtney Whorten will continue her soccer career at Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, Va.

Whorten, the 2006 Herald-Mail Player of the Year, is North's all-time leader in goals (44) and assists (52).

Virginia Wesleyan finished 18-4-4 last season and was ranked fourth in NCAA Division III.
