Police were investigating an armed robbery Wednesday night, the Hagerstown Police Department said.

The victims said they met three men on Sumans Avenue and the men started to get into the victims' vehicle when one of the men began to assault the driver, showed a knife and demanded the victims' belongings, police said in a news release.

The man with the knife was described as black, named Timothy, and wearing a navy blue sweat shirt, police said.

One of the victims fled on foot and was chased by the suspect, police alleged.

The suspects left the scene before officers arrived and could not be found, police said.

The victims were not seriously injured and refused medical treatment, police said.
