Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will offer the following classes:

Adults and teens

· Ceramics by hand - 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays, April 13 to May 18. Instructor is Jane Pingleton-Evans. $80, nonmembers; $72, members. Plus $10 materials fee.

· Painting with oils - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, April 18 to June 6. Instructor is Ski Holm.

· Exploring watercolor studio - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays, April 25 to May 30. Instructor is Bob Wantz.

Children

· Artstart: Introduction to sculpture for ages 4 to 7 - 10 to 11 a.m. Thursdays, April 19, to May 24. Instructor is Allison Weaver. $50, nonmembers; $45, members.

· Basic drawing for young artists for ages 8 to 14 - 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays, April 21 to May 5. Instructor is Chris Copley. $60, nonmembers; $54, members.

Heritage Craft Center will offer the following classes:

· Free form knitting - 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21. $60. Bring a sack lunch and drink. Instructor is Susan Shildmyer.

· Cookie tin butterfly and bird ornaments - 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 17. $21, plus $10 materials fee. Instructor is Penni Denton.

· Needle felt hummingbird - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14. $21, plus $10 materials fee. Instructor is Penni Denton.

Spring gardening 101 series

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County Master Gardeners will offer Spring Gardening 101 classes. 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Classes include:

· April 14 - Native plant class and sale. Linda Secrist will share her list of favorite native plants. After the class, a sale of premium native perennials and groundcover plants will be held. Free. Cooperative Extension Office, 181 Franklin Farm Lane.

· June 2 - Your landscape from dream to reality. The class will help participants assess their needs, find the right plants and address maintenance and problems in their home landscape. Held at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center garden, 201 Franklin Farm Lane. $10.

Mudworks-Pottery for ages 55 and older

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Ages 55 and older will make hand-built pottery. Everyone will work with slab, coil and pinch techniques. Wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty. 9:30 a.m. to noon. Fairy house workshop

Art of Schmooze

Students will sharpen communication skills and become a comfortable conversationalist and better public speaker. The instructor is Beth Mende Conny, author of "The Confident Schmoozer" and "What to Say When Talking to Yourself." The series will assist people in having fun on the Internet. The next program is "See the World, Part 2: April in Paris." 7 p.m. Computer lab, Washington County Free Library, 100 S.
