Germantown 10-3, Hagerstown Community College 6-8

Corey Livengood pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed only four hits as HCC salvaged a split with Germantown.

Jacob Darr, Roland Thiele and Matt Ridenour each had two hits and an RBI, and Corey Eisenhart had two hits and three RBI for the Hawks (17-13, 8-3).

David Zaminski had two hits, and Mike Knight had a double and an RBI in the loss to Germantown (14-5).

Shepherd 9-2, Bloomsburg 7-16

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Drew McCormick had a grand slam and Steve Kozak picked up his third win of the season as Shepherd defeated Bloomsburg 9-7 in the opener. Dirk Webb added two hits for the Rams (10-13) in the win.

Bloomsburg (10-19) had 14 hits and took advantage eight Shepherd walks to win 16-2 in the nightcap.


Shepherd 8, Columbia Union 0

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Mia Zappacosta tossed a two-hitter with six strikeouts to lead Shepherd University to an 8-0 victory over Columbia Union in the opener of a doubleheader sweep.


Rebekah Walsh went 3-for-3 with a two RBI and Amy Edmondson went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored for the Rams (14-13).

Shepherd led 3-0 in the top of the fifth in the nightcap when a Columbia Union player was hit by a pitch and unable to continue. The Pioneers were left with only eight players and the game was declared a forfeit.

Fowler picks up victory

EMMITTSBURG, Md. - South Hagerstown graduate Jamie Fowler pitched a complete game to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 3-2 win over Towson that ended a 24-game losing streak to the Tigers. Fowler allowed only five hits and struck out seven in recording her sixth win of the year.

The South Mountain Magic boys 14-U team finished third in the Charm City Easter tournament in Baltimore with a 3-1 record.

Colt League signups

The Hagerstown Colt League, ages 15-16, will conduct registrations again this weekend. Saturday's time is from 9 a.m.-noon and Sunday will be from 1-4 p.m., both days at Hillane Park. Players must bring their birth certificate and $35 signup fee.

At the same times, registration will be held for the Hagerstown Palomino League, for ages 17-18.

Funkstown Legion registration
