Rock 4 Drew benefit features four acts
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Drew Michael Taylor Foundation will team with Ledbetter Heights to Rock 4 Drew on Saturday, April 21.
The all-ages, multiband show begins at 4 p.m. with Marsiglia, Rivers Monroe, Prone 2 Panic and Josa Step in the parking lot of the Market Cross Pub in Shippensburg. Ledbetter Heights performs at 8 p.m.
The event, hosted by Hooligan of Indie 415, supports the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation, which provides educational and recreational opportunities for children in memory of 3-year-old Drew, who died in a traffic accident June 13, 2006.
Admission costs $5, and T-shirts will be sold at the event.
Kohl's to open this week in Chambersburg
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Kohl's Department Store in the Chambersburg Crossing shopping center on Norland Avenue will host a grand opening celebration Wednesday.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 7:45 a.m., and doors open officially at 8 a.m.
The store has outdoor seating and music, showcase windows displaying fashions and redesigned checkout stations, according to a company news release.
Mints, restaurant team up for Scouts
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - 3 Onions Restaurant and Lounge has created desserts made with Girl Scout cookies and will be offering them to customers in April and May through a partnership with the Girl Scouts of Shawnee Council Inc.
A portion of each sale of the thin mints dessert will go to the council and its 15-county service area.
Foster parent training event offered
STATE LINE, Pa. - The Foster Parent Association of Franklin County is offering a free training event to both parents and professionals on Saturday, May 19 at the Living Hope Community Church in State Line.
Faye Hall and Jeff Merkert will present "Creating a Healing Home" in morning and afternoon sessions. Participants will learn new parenting techniques for nurturing emotionally impaired children.
