Broadhurst-Nicol

Richard and Carolyn Broadhurst of Urbana, Md., announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer L. Broadhurst, to James W. Nicol III of Hagerstown, son of James and Karin Nicol.

Ms. Broadhurst is a 1999 graduate of Urbana High School and attended Bluefield College in Virginia and Frederick Community College. She is the owner of a business in Middletown, Md.

Mr. Nicol attended North Hagerstown High School and is a 2003 graduate of Washington County Technical High School. He joined the Air National Guard in 2005 and trained at Lockland AFB and Goodfellow AFB in Texas. He is a firefighter with the Air National Guard in Martinsburg, W.Va.

An Oct. 19, 2007, wedding is planned.

Young-Elmore

Karen Young and Jerry Elmore, both of Smithsburg, announce their engagement.

Ms. Young is the daughter of Audrey and Ralph Gaebel of Jeannette, Pa. She is employed with Washington County Board of Education as a special education teacher.

Mr. Elmore is employed by the State of Maryland, Department of Assessments in Hagerstown.

A Sept. 9, 2007, wedding is planned.

Strawsburg-Nezat

Ron and Brenda Strawsburg of Smithsburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Danielle Marie Strawsburg, to Richard Michael Nezat, son of Mary Sharon Hardesty of Claremore, Okla.

Miss Strawsburg is a 2004 graduate of Smithsburg High School and received an associate of science degree from Hagerstown Community College. She is completing her degree in human development and family sciences at Oklahoma State University.

Mr. Nezat is a 2003 graduate of Owasso High School in Owasso, Okla. He is studying mechanical engineering at Oklahoma State University. In addition to his studies, he is enrolled in the Army ROTC program.

A June 2, 2007, wedding is planned.
