Burke not reappointed to planning commission

April 06, 2007|by DAVE McMILLION

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A member of the Jefferson County Planning Commission who was criticized last week for not judging projects fairly was not reappointed to the commission Thursday.

Paul Burke's seat on the planning commission was one of three up for reappointment.

The Jefferson County Commission on Thursday reappointed Ellen May to the planning commission and appointed two new members, Ed Dunleavy and Robert Reynolds.

Dunleavy has been involved in the attempt to save land where the Battle of Shepherdstown occurred during the Civil War, and Reynolds is a former land planner in Lemon Grove, Calif., a suburb of San Diego.

People involved in Jefferson County's development industry took Burke to task for his "anti-growth" approach, and one critic said Burke "simply votes (for) his own political agenda."
