Vandalism, B&E cases reported

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following incidents, according to Lt. Mark Knight:

Thursday, April 5

  • At 4 p.m., a car was reportedly damaged at Schildknecht Trucking Inc., 16424 Leon Grimm Drive. A 2004 Ford convertible had two punctured tires.

  • At 10 p.m., damage to a truck was reported in the 17000 block of Homewood Road. A 2005 Ford F150 truck was reportedly scratched in several places.

  • At 9 a.m. power line insulators between Pen Mar Road and Buena Vista Road in Cascade were reportedly damaged. The 27 insulators were damaged by gunshots. Thousands of customers, 1,065 customers in the Highfield area and 964 in Sabillasville, Md., lost power as a result of the damage. The damage cost $451 in property loss and $8,601 in labor to repair.

Friday, April 6

  • At 1:30 a.m., a breaking and entering was reported at Bingo Island, 181833 Oak Ridge Drive. A cash box containing $350 was stolen.

Armed robbery reported at cinema

FREDERICK, Md. - Police were investigating an armed robbery at the Hoyts Cinema 10 inside Frederick Towne Mall on Thursday night, the Frederick Police Department said. A man brandished a handgun and demanded money from a theater employee, then took money from the cash register, police said in a news release.


The robber was described as black, in his late teens or early 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build, police said. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants, police said.
