A wry look at the 'best' of Mail Call/You Said It

A wry look at the 'best' of Mail Call/You Said It

April 05, 2007

"I have called about the continuous increase in services that we citizens have to put up with."

Don't you just hate increased services?

"They import things from these other countries like Asia and everywhere, and they know these countries are not sanitized."

I say we fly over all these other countries and spray them with Lysol.

"There are numerous people that are complaining about the way they're harassing our cars."

Name-calling and picking on poor defenseless cars is just wrong.

"I pray to the highest power that you are not gonna go out there and record these kids or whoever they are racing with a camcorder."

My camcorder is only a little 4-cylinder, so it never wins any races.

"I, for two, admire and honor them."

People with multiple personalities have opinions, too.

"Children or human beings."

Finally, someone admits that there is a difference.

"He should have been pumped full of bullets until he was completely dead."

Not just a little bit dead - we're talking all the way dead here.

"There's an old saying that says there's no sense being dumb unless you can prove it."

I'm confused. If you can't prove it, wouldn't that suggest that you weren't smart enough to do so?

"High five" to this caller:

"Elderly drivers do not cause half the traffic hazards as do those using cell phones. You can always tell when there is someone ahead of you on the phone, because they are not paying attention to traffic. If the call is like all the ones I have overheard in restaurants, airports and stores, the call is not something that the driver could not wait to have when he was off the highway."

I agree! Let's all keep our minds on our driving. As the bumper sticker says: Hang up and drive. And no one wants to hear people shouting into their cell phone in public places, either.

Caller concerns:

Mitchell Avenue, Hagerstown: In response to a caller's concerns about the need to repave Mitchell Avenue, Hagerstown officials say it is on the 2007 road-repair schedule, but homeowners there must first complete curb and sidewalk repairs.

Hagerstown City Park restrooms: Effective Friday, April 6, park attendants will be on duty. The restrooms at City Park will then be open from 10 a.m. until dusk throughout the season.

Dogs barking excessively: Please call Animal Control at the Washington County Humane Society at 301-733-2060 to report dogs in Hagerstown barking excessively.
