Boy, 4, submerged in bathtub dies

FREDERICK, Md. - Police were investigating the death of a 4-year-old boy found submerged in a bathtub Wednesday, according to the Frederick Police Department.

The boy's mother found him in a home in the 100 block of Deerfield Place, police said in a news release. Police and emergency services personnel responded to the home at 12:41 p.m.. Emergency workers administered CPR and took the boy to Frederick Memorial Hospital, but he was not revived, police said.

An autopsy was scheduled for this afternoon.

Woman struck by SUV in Hagerstown

A Falling Waters, W.Va., woman was struck by a small sport utility vehicle on Wednesday at 5:10 p.m. as she crossed East Antietam Street in Hagerstown, the Hagerstown Police Department said.

Mary Thomas was taken to to Washington County Hospital after the accident. Her condition could not be obtained this morning.

Martin Becker, of Hagerstown, was driving a Honda CRV west on East Antietam Street when the vehicle struck Thomas, police said.

Two Pa. women hurt in crash

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Two Pennsylvania women were flown to Altoona Hospital in Altoona, Pa., Wednesday after a two-vehicle crash in Dublin Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said.

Stephanie R. Smith, of Saltillo, Pa., was listed in fair condition at Altoona Hospital this morning and Desire D. Smith, 19, also of Saltillo, was listed in serious condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Stephanie Smith was driving a 1990 Geo Metro west on Battle Ridge Road and attempting to drive on to S.R. 475 when she drove into the path of Gary L. Morrow, 53, of Six Mile Run, Pa., police said in a news release.

Morrow, who was not injured, was unable to avoid the collision, police said.
