"Every time I turn on the news, it's Elizabeth Edwards talking about her cancer, or some other commentator talking about Mrs. Edwards' cancer. While I think it's great that she and her husband have decided he could continue to run for president despite her illness, they don't seem to be in touch with reality. Most Americans, if their wife or husband got cancer and were likely to die one day, they would not be able to afford the treatment without going bankrupt, selling their houses, taking a second or a third job. So while the Edwardses and press secretary Tony Snow, whose cancer has also returned, have the money to take care of their cancer and get the best treatment possible, most Americans wouldn't be in that situation. Until all Americans have equal rights and equal access to all health facilities and treatments, America will not be a true democracy."
