High school art contest
Artistic Discovery is a high school art competition coordinated by members of the U.S. House of Representatives, according to U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, R-Md. The deadline for submitting artwork is Monday, April 23.
Participating students must reside in Maryland's Sixth Congressional District, which includes Washington County.
On May 8, eight winners will be announced - seven category winners and the Sixth Congressional District best in show. The best-in-show winner from the Sixth District of Maryland will be displayed on Capitol Hill for one year. The winner will be eligible to win a $5,000 scholarship to Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design.
The Sixth District best-in-show winner will also be invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and reception in Washington, D.C., with other best-in-show winners from around the United States.
