HCC offers notary course

Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education is presenting an introductory course for commissioned notaries and those who want to be commissioned in Maryland.

The course will identify the importance and history of the notary, legal responsibilities and duties, purpose of the notary, record keeping, correct notary verbiage, avoiding conflict of interest, and how to correctly use and protect the notary seal. Students will learn how to apply for a notary commission.

The six-hour course will be Mondays, April 16 and 23, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the HCC Valley Mall Center. The instructor will be Joe Cunningham, who is a certified signing agent by the National Notary Association. The cost is $89, which includes textbook and handouts.
