Sarah Hurd, a junior in the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pa., was named to the dean's list for the fall 2006 semester.

She is the daughter of Wesley and Barbara Hurd of Smithsburg.

Joshua S. Aldana of Myersville, Md., was named to the dean's list at Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, for the fall 2006 semester. He is a junior.

Jonathan Cannon of Hagerstown was named to the dean's list at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Pa., for the fall 2006 semester. He is a pharmaceutical and management student.

Joel Herd of Hagerstown was named to the dean's list at McNally Smith College of Music, St. Paul, Minn. Herd, who is studying performance bass, carried a 3.67 grade-point average.

The following Washington County students were named to the dean's list at Washington College, Chestertown, Md., for the fall 2006 semester:

Hugh Joseph Breslin IV of Hagerstown, a senior. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Breslin III is majoring in business management.

Sarah E. Macht of Hagerstown, a freshman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold V. Macht.

Jonathan R. Martin of Hagerstown, a senior. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Martin is majoring in biology.

Sandra G. Ropelewski of Hagerstown, a junior. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen M. Ropelewski is majoring in business management.

Travis S. Myers of Maugansville, a freshman, son of Brenda K. Myers and Keith A. Myers.

Emily Cartlidge of Middletown, Md., was named to the dean's list at Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, for the fall 2006 semester.

A senior, Cartlidge is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in general fine arts and photography.

Jonathan Braillier of Chambersburg, Pa., was named to the dean's list at Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa., for the fall 2006 semester. He is a senior business, organizations and society major.

Lindsey Mills, daughter of Randy and Teresa Mills of Clear Spring, has been named a United States National Honor Student Award winner by the United States Achievement Academy.

Lindsey, who attends Clear Spring High School, will be listed in the academy's official yearbook, which is published nationally.

She is the granddaughter of John and Patsy Price of Boonsboro and Richard and Ruth Mills of Clear Spring.

Peter Lang of Hagerstown has been named a United States National Honor Student Award winner by the United States Achievement Academy.

Peter, who attends Boonsboro Middle School, will be listed in the academy's official yearbook, which is published nationally.

Jenna Shenk of Hagerstown was named to the dean's list at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pa., for the fall 2006 semester. A senior, Shenk is majoring in biology.

Marjorie Madikoto-Owusu of Cascade graduated from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, Mich., in December with a Master of Science in Administration degree.

Rebekah Gayman, daughter of Lynn and Susan Gayman of Greencastle, Pa., was named to the dean's list at Grove City (Pa.) College for the fall 2006 semester.

A homeschool graduate, she is majoring in philosophy.

Robert Peterson of Hagerstown is one of 42 students at Waynesburg (Pa.) College named to the 2007 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He was honored at the school's Charter Day celebration March 20.

Peterson, a graduate of South Hagerstown High School, is a senior majoring in human services.

Students were nominated by faculty and administrators for inclusion in the publication. They were selected based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
