The Silverses

Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Silvers of Williamsport were honored with a surprise 60th wedding anniversary celebration on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at the Williamsport Community Building. They renewed their wedding vows in the presence of family and friends. Pastor Bill Clark officiated.

The luncheon was hosted by their daughter and her husband, Cheri and Darrell Hovermale, their granddaughter and her husband, Kristi and Mike Brooks, and their daughter-in-law, Sharron Silvers, wife of their late son, Rick Silvers.

The Silverses were married Nov. 30, 1946, in Hagerstown by the Rev. Paul Holdcraft of Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Mrs. Silvers is the former P. Jane West of Hagerstown, daughter of the late Roy I. and Edna (Shank) West. She is retired from M.P. Moller Co.


Mr. Silvers is the son of the late Richard and Catherine (Byers) Silvers. He is retired from Fairchild Industries and Rohr Industries.

They have another granddaughter, Lindsay Hovermale.

The Hendershots

Carl and Joan Hendershot of Clear Spring recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. A surprise dinner was given in their honor by their six children and their spouses.

The Hendershots were married Oct. 28, 1956, at St. Paul's United Brethren Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. Lester Kauffman, now deceased.

The Hendershots are retired dairy farmers. They have 16 grandchildren.
