Sharpsburg Elementary students participate in readathon

March 30, 2007

First-grade classes at Sharpsburg Elementary School held a readathon in February to help raise money for their end-of-the-year field trips.

Students earned money by reading books instead of just asking their parents for the money. Twenty-nine students participated and read more than 500 books, earning a total of $1,071.75.

Rachael Newby was the top reader, reading 111 books.

Student nominated for Character Counts!

Second-grade teachers at Sharpsburg Elementary School have chosen Kyle Curtis as Sharpsburg Elementary School's February Community Partnership Character Counts! nominee.

Deborah Lloyd, Kyle's teacher, nominated him for demonstrating the Character Counts! pillar of responsibility.

Mrs. Lloyd said that Kyle pursues excellence. He is a great worker, is respectful to all, is liked by all and makes good grades.
