Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education is offering a seminar in April that focuses on sharpening communication skills and becoming a comfortable conversationalist and better public speaker.
The seminar will be Saturday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the HCC Valley Mall Center.
The program will be taught by Beth Mende Conny, an author, professional speaker and communications trainer. Students who attend the morning session of the seminar will receive her books, "The Confident Schmoozer" and "What to Say When Talking to Yourself."
The morning session, titled "The Art of Schmooze," is designed to help students identify their strengths, learn to build conversational bridges and discover how to put others at ease. Students also will learn how to influence others in both their personal and professional lives.
The afternoon session, titled "Become a Confident Public Speaker," will teach students simple techniques for speaking with confidence, how to prepare for presentations and how to deliver remarks in informative, engaging and inspirational ways.
