Meet the Author

Anthem tryouts



The Hagerstown Suns will hold open auditions for the singing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" for the 2007 season. Participants must either sing the national anthem without instrumental accompaniment or play it with an instrument. Singers are permitted to try out individually or in groups. Ages 18 and younger must have a parent or guardian present to sign the registration form. All winners must provide their own transportation to the game. Today, 8 a.m., registration; auditions begin at 10 a.m. Food court at Valley Mall, Halfway.

MasterWorks IV



"An Elegant Evening of Berlioz and Brahms," performed by the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, includes Symphony No. 1 in C minor by Johannes Brahms and the Overture from Hector Berlioz's "Beatrice et Benedict." The Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra will bring its unique sound and arrangements of classical music, show tunes, marches and a variety of light classical and popular tunes.
