The 2007 Bowl for Kids' Sake fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at Turner's Dual Lanes in Hagerstown.
Money raised will help fund the agency's services to children in the program, as well as recruiting efforts to find mentors for children waiting to be matched with Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Big Couples. Last year, 289 children received service from the program. There are 59 children waiting to be matched with a mentor. Big Brothers Big Sisters matches adult mentors with children growing up in primarily single-parent families who need the friendship and guidance of an adult in the community-based program and children needing educational help in the school-based mentoring program.
A team can range from one to five bowlers. Regardless of a person's bowling ability, everyone is eligible to participate. Bowling and shoes are free. Participants may obtain a flat pledge regardless of the total bowled, or a pledged amount for each pin knocked down and bowl one game of duckpins or tenpins. The minimum score is 100, regardless of the game bowled. All participants are eligible for door prizes and other prizes.
