How each team reached the PIAA Class AAA state semifinals:


First round - defeated Communications Tech 60-58 at Chambersburg High School

Notes: Shane Rife scored 21 points, including the game-winning layup at the buzzer. Brandon Bryan had 18 points and Dion Lehman added 14.

Second round - defeated Crestwood 45-40 in overtime at Shamokin High School

Notes: Lehman scored seven of his 19 points in overtime. Bryan added 12 points. Crestwood missed all five of its free-throw attempts in overtime.

Quarterfinals - defeated Springfield Delco 57-56 at East Pennsboro High School

Notes: Bryan made two free throws with 8.6 seconds left to give the Rockets the lead, and Springfield's Frank McKnight missed a 16-footer at the buzzer. Bryan went 10-for-10 from the foul line and finished with 23 points, while Rife added 20 points.



First round - defeated Franklin Learning Center 68-59 at South Philadelphia High School

Notes: Jordan Gembe made six 3-pointers and finished with 26 points - 16 coming in the fourth quarter - for the Blue Devils. Dameatric Scott had 17 points and seven rebounds and Treavor Gelsinger added 10 points.

Second round - defeated Phoenixville 57-50 at East Pennsboro High School

Notes: The Blue Devils opened the game on a 6-0 run and never trailed. Jaren Gembe scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half, Scott had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Jordan Gembe added 10 points.

Third round - defeated West York 60-58 at Gettysburg High School

Notes: West York had a 16-3 lead in the first quarter that the Blue Devils erased by halftime. Jordan Gembe hit two free throws with 30 seconds left for a 60-57 lead. The Bulldogs made a free throw to cut the lead to two but missed a point-blank layup in the final second that would have sent the game to overtime. Scott had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Jordan Gembe had 15 points and Jaren Gembe added 11.

The rivalry

A look at the three games the Blue Devils and Rockets have played so far this season:

Dec. 15 at James Buchanan - Rockets 41, Blue Devils 39

In a defensive struggle, JB got enough offense from Dion Lehman, Evan Angle and Shane Rife to hold off Greencastle. Lehman scored 12 points and Angle and Rife each added 11. Jaren Gembe had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Blue Devils. Rockets guard Brandon Bryan and Greencastle forward Dameatric Scott did not play.

Jan. 19 at Greencastle - Blue Devils 77, Rockets 67

Offense ruled the day in this one - Greencastle made 30 of 53 shots, JB 25 of 44. Scott had 34 points and 14 rebounds for the Blue Devils, who racked up a 36-18 rebounding edge. Jaren Gembe added 16 points and nine assists. For the Rockets, Bryan scored 28 points and Lehman added 20.

Feb. 23, District 3-AAA quarterfinals at Cumberland Valley - Rockets 61, Blue Devils 56

Rife led the way for JB with 20 points, while Bryan had 14 and Josh McCauley added 13. Scott had 17 points and nine rebounds, Jordan Gembehad 12 and Ty Thrush 10 for Greencastle. The Rockets went on to finish third and the Blue Devils fifth in the district.
