Deadline near in Hancock photo contest

March 15, 2007

HANCOCK - The Hancock Arts Council's second annual Our Town 2007 photo contest is approaching the March 31 deadline for entries, according to an arts council release.

Entry forms and a fact sheet are available at War Memorial Library where the winning photos will be displayed. The grand prize is $100. The top winners in the contest's three categories - people, places and things - will receive $50.

David Parker of Hancock was last year's grand prize winner. His photo - of his grandson fishing in the Potomac River - was taken with an inexpensive disposable digital camera, according to the release.

The contest is held to encourage and recognize area photographers for excellence in photographic skills, and to promote community pride by exhibiting photos that characterize life in and around the town of Hancock.
