A day in the life of the mayor

March 14, 2007

On Feb. 20, Williamsport Mayor James G. McCleaf II and Councilman Jeff Cline visited Williamsport Elementary School to promote the If I Were Mayor essay contest.

The class was shown a DVD of last year's Washington County winner, Lindsey Mowbray of Smithsburg Elementary, on her trip to Annapolis and of former Gov. Robert Ehrlich's presentation of the award to her.

The contest and rules were explained by Cline and McCleaf, who fielded questions as if it were a press conference.

Questions included "Can you close schools?", "How many hours do you work?" and "What do you like best about being mayor?"
