Run/walk at Shepherd University

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Shepherd University Wellness Center will hold the second annual fun run/walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 31. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Wellness Center in Sara Cree Hall.

Registration costs $15 and participants will receive a T-shirt. Additional donations will be accepted. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Hospice training program

Hospice of Washington County Inc., will offer two spring volunteer training programs. The course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, Friday, April 6, Monday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 11; and 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 1 through 17. The first session will be an overview of the Hospice concept of care and is open to the public.

Bereavement teleconference

Hospice of Washington County Inc. will host the Hospice Foundation of America's 14th annual National Bereavement Teleconference for grief and bereavement counselors. The event will focus on "Living with Grief: Before and After Death." The teleconference will be broadcast live via-satellite from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Hagerstown Community College, ATC 121, Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown.

The educational program will be moderated by Frank Sesno. The panel includes Scott W. Bradley, Kenneth J. Doka, Lorraine Hedtke, Patricia Murphy, Robert A. Neimeyer and Robert Washington.

Following the broadcast a panel discussion will be held comprised of local community bereavement service representatives to discuss and answer grief or bereavement topics.

Lupus education program

FREDERICK, Md. - Lupus Mid-Atlantic will host a free lupus education program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at C. Burr Artz Public Library, 110 E. Patrick St. For information or to receive a free information packet, call 800-777-0934.

Fad-free diet program

FREDERICK, Md. -Maryland Cooperative Extension Frederick County will offer "Quick Fixes Aren't the Answer; Be 100-percent Fad Free," from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 26, at the extension office, 330 Montevue Lane. The class will be repeated from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 30.

Dress comfortably and be ready to move for the program.
