South High hosts FBLA competition

South Hagerstown High School's chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America hosted the 2007 Region I FBLA Competition Feb. 1.

About 180 students from Allegany, Beall, Boonsboro, Catoctin, Clear Spring, Gov. Thomas Johnson, Middletown, Smithsburg, South Hagers-town, Urbana and Walkersville high schools competed in 32 skill competitions.

South High competitors were Jason David and Seth Younker, Accounting I; Stephanie Edwards and Brittany Funk, Accounting II; Pramudita Lestari, Business Calculations; Jennifer Bezerra, Business Communications; Kelly Carson and Cory Shank, Business Math; Kaitlin Green, Business Procedures; Tara Goff, Computer Applications; Charles Boyer, Cyber Security; Ross Carpenter, Economics; Joe Bender, Sean Osborne and Nick Ziolowski, Global Business Team; Devin Witman, Introduction to Technology Concepts; Baker Nababi and Susie Zindel, Job Interview; Jessica Meagher and Lizeth Hernandez, Public Speaking II; Cassandra Vasquez, Spreadsheet Application; and Rachael Toms and Arlene Rivera, Word Processing I.

First-, second- and third-place winners advanced to the 2007 Maryland State Leadership Conference, being held March 22 to 24 at the Clarion Inn in Hagerstown. Those students were Jason David, Stephanie Edwards, Kaitlin Green, Tara Goff, Charles Boyer, Joe Bender, Sean Osborne, Nick Ziolowski, Devin Witman, Baker Nababi, Jessica Meagher, Lizeth Hernandez and Rachael Toms.
