Heartland of Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Heartland of Martinsburg recently announced completion of a rehabilitation gym.

The 2,400-square-foot addition is off the 60-bed skilled nursing and rehab unit.

The new therapy gym has features that will enable patients to "practice" being in a home setting. They can cook a meal in the gym's fully equipped kitchen or do a load of laundry.

The rehab center also has multiple walking surfaces, such as metal, gravel and stone, to give patients the opportunity to gain the confidence they need to be independent in the community, according to a prepared release.

College Funding Associates

FREDERICK, Md. - College Funding Associates, a firm with headquarters in Frederick, will offer a series of workshops that will be held at The Delaplaine Visual Arts Center at 40 S. Carroll St., Frederick, on March 20 and 21, March 26 and 28, and April 17 and 19.

The programs will be presented using PowerPoint and will focus on the process of choosing, applying for, and eventually paying for the cost of attending college.

Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education will offer a "Coaching for Top Performance" course on Monday, March 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the HCC Valley Mall Center.

The course is designed to teach students how to challenge staff members to reach higher levels of performance and to help staff members internalize the attitudes needed to keep an organization secure and focused.

It's also designed to help managers identify coaching skills/competencies, learn to document and assess performance, discover and use coaching tools, practice communication skills and understand how to deal with coaching challenges.

The instructor is Jim Cannon, who has 25 years of practical management experience and is HCC's director of continuing education. He is a certified trainer for AcheiveGlobal, Development Dimensions International, and a member of ASTD.

FREDERICK, Md. - Best Western International has announced the addition of the Best Western Historic Frederick at 420 Prospect Blvd. in Frederick.

The recently renovated hotel, owned by Capstone Hotels, has 118 guest rooms, including 29 suites.
