WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Waynesboro Borough Council has agreed to close Main Street twice this year for events hosted by a nonprofit organization.
MainStreet Waynesboro Inc. asked the council to close Pa. 16 from Broad to Grant streets on June 23 for a car show and Oct. 6 for Market Days.
Borough officials on Wednesday urged a representative of the organization to work with police and fire police to establish detours and limit parking.
The request also must be taken to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for permitting.
At the request of Borough Engineer Kevin Grubbs, the council agreed to consider installing permanent fixtures for banners that will stretch the width of Main Street. Two banners were connected to buildings last year and had to be especially long as a result.
