Snow, sleet and freezing rain didn't deter nearly 600 people from attending Hagerstown Rotary's third annual Bull and Oyster Roast on Sunday, Feb. 25, at Hagers-town Community College's ARCC.
Hundreds of oysters and dozens of pounds of beef were consumed at the event, all in the name of raising money for the Rotary Foundation. About 60 Rotarians volunteered their time to either set up for the event on Saturday or work on Sunday.
"The community really turned out despite the rough weather," said John League, 2007 event chairman. "Everyone who braved the elements appeared to have a great time. We raised a lot of money that will stay in our community. We certainly appreciate everyone who came out to support us."
The Rotary Foundation has contributed more than $1 million over the years to Washington County charities and nonprofits.
One hundred percent of the profits from the B&O Roast are contributed to the Rotary Foundation.
