Cascade Elementary hosting auction

March 05, 2007

The Cascade Elementary School Parent Teacher Association will hold its ninth annual fundraising auction Saturday at the school, 14519 Pennersville Road in Cascade.

The silent table auction will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the oral auction will begin at 10 a.m. A schoolwide quilt will be raffled off at 11 a.m. Raffle tickets can be bought by calling the school at 301-766-8066.

The handmade quilt, which every student at the school signed, was donated by Kerry and Jeff Coyle of Cascade. It also features a picture of the school's mascot, Casey the Dragon, in the middle of the quilt.

Donations of new and used goods are being accepted.

A drop-off event is scheduled for Tuesday between 6:30 and 9 p.m. at the school. Those who have new or used items to donate but cannot bring them on March 6 may drop them off between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. weekdays. They also may call the school to arrange for a time to drop them off.

Business owners who are willing to donate new items or gift certificates can call the school to arrange a time for the items to be picked up. Those with large new or used items that need to be picked up from their homes can call Jill Keller at 301-824-4388.

A wide variety of items has already been donated from the community and businesses. Each class will donate a themed basket, a class wall hanging, a pillow and a T-shirt. Students' signatures and photographs will be featured on all class items.

Albert Hobbs is donating his time to be the auctioneer. Many parent and grandparent volunteers have contributed their time and expertise to help raise money for the school's PTA. The money will be used for field trips, assemblies, school supplies and more.
