Man to perform on drums in Jefferson County schools



CHARLES, TOWN, W.Va. - Darrell Rose will perform in a number of Jefferson County public schools during the week of March 12, according to a Jefferson County Schools press release.

Rose will perform traditional African rhythms on a variety of drums. The performances are funded through an Arts and Humanities Association grant.




Greencastle schools announce kindergarten registration dates



GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Greencastle-Antrim School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2007-08 school year April 18 to 20, 23 and 24.

Registration will be at Greencastle-Antrim Primary School at 504 E. Leitersburg St. in Greencastle. Appointments should be made before March 23, according a school district press release.

At registration, parents must have the child's birth certificate or similar document, immunization records, Social Security card and two proofs of residency in the Greencastle-Antrim School District, according to the release.

To enter kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old before Sept. 1.

State offers Spanish brochures on college issues



ANNAPOLIS - The Maryland Higher Education Commission has published "What's Next After High School? Preparing your Child for College" and "College 411 - A Quick Guide to Cash for College and How to Get It" in Spanish.

Brochures have been distributed to high school guidance counselors throughout the state.

The information also is available on the commission Web site at www.mhec.state.md.us.
