The Hagerstown Police Department was investigating a robbery Friday in the parking lot near Wal-Mart on Garland Groh Boulevard, according to a department press release.
Milton Stewart Garber, 79, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., was approached by a man in the parking lot who knocked him to the ground and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from his pocket, according to the release.
The suspect was described as a white male in his 20s, wearing a white or off-white pullover shirt, jeans and a dark baseball hat. He might have escaped in a maroon vehicle, according to the release.
Garber was treated for injuries and released from the Washington County Hospital emergency department, a hospital spokeswoman said.
