MEN'S BASKETBALL



CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Dan Binggeli scored 16 points to lead West Liberty to a 73-63 victory over Shepherd University in the quarterfinals of the West Virginia Conference Tournament on Thursday.

Yves Moliva had 17 points for Shepherd (16-13), while Barry Cornish had 15 points and six rebounds and Danley Shank had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Shank, a Chambersburg graduate, finishes his collegiate career ranked 11th on Shepherd's all-time scoring list with 1,560 points and 22nd in rebounds with 510.

Gaskill wins title at Penn St.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Waynesboro ninth-grader Marvin Gaskill recently won the 250-pound weight class at the Penn State Wrestling Tournament, going 4-0 for the tourney.

Gaskill went 19-1 for his middle school team this season.

BRIEFS



Hollenshead to run at HCC

James Buchanan senior Lindsey Hollenshead recently signed a letter of committment to continue her running career at Hagerstown Community College.

Hollenshead, a Herald-Mail All-Area First Team cross country runner last fall, has personal bests of 2:32.4 for 800 meters, 5:29.2 for 1,600, 11:43 for 3,200 and 19:01 for 5K.

Chambersburg Half Marathon

The 28th annual Chambersburg Half Marathon will be held March 17. The 13.1-mile race starts and finishes at Chambersburg Area Middle School.

Race-day registration begins at 8 a.m. The race starts at 9:30.
