Developer seeks change in zoning

March 01, 2007

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A local developer wants to change Antrim Township zoning ordinances to accommodate a diverse mix of industrial and commercial property along Interstate 81.

Paul Perini of Hagerstown based Perini Properties asked the Antrim Township Board of Supervisors on Tuesday to consider changing the zoning of a parcel of property near Exit 3 in Pennsylvania to a zoning concept he called Highway Commercial 3 (HC3).

Perini said the idea of HC3 is similar to a Washington County zoning form known as Highway Industrial 1 and would allow for a mix of "professional light industrial and highway commercial" property.

Township zoning officer Angela Garland said the township does not currently have HC3 zoning and would have to change its ordinances and add HC3 before it could move forward with Perini's request.

Perini also said a portion of the property known as Antrim Commons Business Park is earmarked for sale to an archeological conservatory for archeological research and preservation.
