Franklin County GOP to honor vets at dinner

March 01, 2007

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County residents who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan will be special guests of honor at this year's Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. The annual event will be held March 12 at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Chambersburg.

According to Franklin County Republican Chairman James B. Taylor, the theme of "Honoring Those Who Serve" was chosen to show support and to honor local veterans who have served in a difficult war. Veterans of the War on Terror will be given free admission and will be recognized and thanked individually.

The dinner's keynote speaker will be retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Scott Rutter, a Silver Star recipient who served as a combat leader in Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

The dinner begins at 6:30 at the Lighthouse in Chambersburg; admission is $35 per person.
