CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Krissy Grosselin scored a game-high 21 points, but Shepherd University dropped a 65-58 decision to University of Charleston on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the West Virginia Conference Tournament.

Grosselin was 7-of-16 from the floor and 2-for-3 from 3-point range. She also made 5-of-6 free throws.

Andrea Kauffman had 14 points and eight rebounds, while Camille Wilmer also grabbed eight boards. Laura Harkins added eight points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.

Jihan William had 15 points and 11 boards to lead Charleston. Rachel Pike added 12 points and nine rebounds and Emily Jones had 12 points and seven boards.

Shepherd rallied from a 35-21 halftime deficit with a 19-8 run to start the second half and tied the game at 43-43 with 11:22 to play.


The Rams took their first lead of the game at 53-51 on a Harkins jumper with 4:07 remaining. Charleston regained the lead on a three-point play by Williams with 3:35 left. A 3-pointer by Courtney Thomas and a 6-for-7 performance at the charity stripe down the stretch sealed the win for the Golden Eagles.

Shepherd completes its season at 18-11, while Charleston (23-7) advances to Friday's semifinals against West Liberty.
