HCC plans real estate class series

Hagerstown Community College Center for Continuing Education is conducting a series of seminars for real estate investors in Washington County. The seminar series includes:

· Landlord Crash Course - Monday, March 19, 6 to 9 p.m. This popular course is co-sponsored by the Hagerstown Neighborhood Development Partnership Inc. Topics include leases, lead-paint laws, evictions and code enforcement. Cost is $40.

· Successful Real Estate Investing - Wednesday, April 11, 6 to 9 p.m. Steve Powell, a local investor and Realtor, shares valuable tips on making successful investment decisions. Cost is $45.

· City of Hagerstown Rental Property Compliance Update - Saturday, April 21, 9 a.m. to noon. This course is for all rental property owners in Hagerstown to receive updates on the most recent rental licensing program and property code. Cost is $10.

· The Business of Being a Landlord - Wednesday, May 2, 6 to 9 p.m. Joe Mullenax of Allegany Business Consulting discusses the tax advantages of rental properties and implication of tax laws for landlords, incorporation benefits and record keeping tips. Cost is $45.

·Landlord Laws of Washington County - Wednesday, June 6, 6 to 9 p.m. This course deals exclusively with legal questions faced by landlords in Washington County and is taught by Russ Robinson III. Topics include lease agreements, security deposits, collecting back rents and other landlord remedies. Cost is $49.
