Body found in burned store

FREDERICK, Md. - A body was discovered Tuesday inside a liquor store where a gunman is believed to have died in a fiery standoff, according to a press release from the Frederick Police Department.

The police said the body was found about 12:30 p.m. inside the locked front door of Jim's Liquors.

Fire broke out at the Antietam Village Shopping Center store after police ceased communication with a gunman who entered the store Monday about 12:45 p.m.

Police identified the gunman as James C. Douglas, 29, of Frederick,

The press release states the Frederick Police Department and Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office were continuing the investigation into the fire. They and Frederick County Fire and Rescue, Morgan Keller Construction and Matan Realty searched the scene Tuesday.

Police said they expected an autopsy and possible examination to be conducted today.
