Renovated Williamsport library set to reopen today

February 21, 2007

WILLIAMSPORT - Williamsport Memorial Library, which was closed for renovations to address problems caused by a roof collapse, reopens today, branch manager Susan Schnebly said.

"We're looking forward to it, being back home," Schnebly said.

Since it closed in late December, the library has gotten new paint, carpeting and other features, Schnebly said. A handicapped entrance that had not been accessible is usable again.

The library was closed for a week in the fall of 2005, after a 12-inch portion of the ceiling collapsed, The Herald-Mail reported.

Schnebly said the interior renovations addressed problems caused by the collapse.

The library's books, which were in storage, returned last Tuesday, and programs will begin again in March, she said.

"It'll be business as usual," Schnebly said.

The library opens at 10 a.m.
