Standoff in Ranson

A West Virginia State Police officer gets his gear out of his car Monday at an incident on Orchard Drive in Ranson, W.Va., where Dorsey Cox barricaded himself inside a house for about six hours. Cox allegedly shot Cpl. Ronald Fletcher as Fletcher entered the house. Cox later released Fletcher, who was reported in critical condition Tuesday.




Officers suit up for action Monday at the house in Ranson, W.Va., where Dorsey Cox barricaded himself. Officers fired tear gas into the house before discovering Cox with a gunshot wound. He later died en route to the hospital. Investigators have not yet said whether Cox shot himself or whether he was shot by police as they entered the home.
