Little kids should NOT see horror movies

Many kids in America are allowed to see horror movies, even in theaters. Sometimes that's OK, but sometimes these kids are too young.

My older brother, Joseph, went to see "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" in theaters with my mom. It's reasonable for him to see that movie, even though it was pretty bloody. Joseph is 16.

But, my brother said, when the movie started to get really scary, he heard this little kid bawling in the back. My brother couldn't believe that somebody would bring a little kid to a movie to see that.

When my brother was 15, he went to see "Hide and Seek," which had some frightening scenes with my mom. He told me that when he got in the theater, he saw a bunch of kids that looked 2 or 3 in there with adults ready to watch the movie.

"It's insane ..." he told me, "Bringing little kids to the movies to see a horror movie such as that."

My brother also told about this video he saw on the Internet. Apparently, some parents let their two kids that looked like they were about 9 years old watch "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" late at night and then sent them to bed. He told me that the two kids left all the lights on in their room as they went to sleep because they were scared. Then, as they were about to fall asleep, the dad burst in their room with a chainsaw and turned it on. The kids were so terrified that they kicked up the mattress of the bed and made a fort within two seconds.

My mom says that she would never let my younger brother watch a horror movie like that until he is at least 12. I think that is reasonable. At least it's not like the 2-year-olds my brother said he saw at "Hide and Seek."

I was terrified when I saw "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" and I am older than 12. I didn't even see all of it, but now I sleep with a small lamp on. Then I start seeing things that aren't there and I'm afraid something will just come up behind me and get me.

I'm 13. I don't know how that little kid could have gone to theaters to see that and survive. I'm sure he's scarred for life.
