Hawks fall short in Md. JuCo title bid

ARNOLD, Md. - Maryland JuCo Tournament MVP Flodysha Peterson scored a game-high 23 points to lead Garrett Community College to a 71-57 victory over Hagerstown Community College in the championship game Sunday.

Yolanda Anthony had 19 points and Britney Jackson added 18 for Garrett, which went 15-1 in conference games.

Samantha Cain made five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points, four steals and three assists for the Hawks (23-6). Jamie Robinson had 14 points and 16 rebounds. Cain and Robinson each were selected to both the All-Maryland JuCo team and the All-tournament team.

Chrissy Minnick added eight rebounds for HCC, which starts play in the NJCAA Division II Region XX Tournament on Friday.
