Health department names employee of the month



Elizabeth Nuckles has been named the Washington County Health Department's Employee of the Month for February. Nuckles received her nursing license in 1997 and is employed as the program manager for the health department's communicable disease program, a position she has held since 2003. In this capacity, she oversees several programs aimed at the control of communicable diseases, including HIV/AIDS case management, emergency preparedness planning, refugee health, tuberculosis control, adult and childhood immunizations, family planning and sexually transmitted infection clinics and communicable disease outbreak surveillance and investigation. Prior to working with Washington County Health Department she worked at the Frederick County Health Department as a program supervisor for their breast and cervical cancer, HIV/AIDS and parish nursing programs.

Her selection reflects the professionalism, adaptability and innovation that she has brought to a high profile and demanding position.




Scappini named employee of year



Martinsburg, W.Va. - Panhandle Home Health announces that computer operations manager Andi Scappini has been named 2006 Employee of the Year.

Scappini has been with the nonprofit agency for nearly 10 years, starting out as an administrative services clerk. She has always been interested in computers and says that she even "tears them up at home with my son and then rebuilds them." Her skills have grown over the years through troubleshooting and working with an outside consultant.

Scappini lives with her husband, Mark, and her sons Mark Jr. and Joey. When she's not working, Scappini is a self-described "movie freak" who enjoys action films and old love stories. She also enjoys shopping.
