Children of Allegheny employees win contest

February 19, 2007

Employees at Allegheny Energy Supply's R. Paul Smith Power Station, in Williamsport, recently honored the sons of two Allegheny Energy employees as winners in their second annual Kid's Safety Slogan Poster Contest.

The theme of this year's contest was "Safety at Home, Work and Play." The winners are Jacob Hafner-Eyler, 12, from Thurmont, Md., and Logan Campbell, 7, from Inwood, W.Va.

Jacob and Logan were presented with awards at a dinner reception held at the station in their honor.

The contest, designed to get family and friends involved with choosing a safety message for the employees who work at the station, was open to children younger than 13.

The R. Paul Smith Safety & Health Committee, along with other employees from the station, chose the winning posters and turned them into safety billboards that will be displayed near the employee entrance of the station for approximately one year.
