Clear Spring High School's chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America took part in regional competition Feb. 1 at South Hagerstown High School

A total of 189 students, including 20 from Clear Spring, competed in a variety of business-oriented activities, including economics, public speaking and accounting.

Eleven Clear Spring students placed first, second or third at regionals, qualifying them for the state competition to be held March 22-24 at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center in Hagerstown.

Results for Clear Spring FBLA members:

Accounting 1 - Brie Milburn, fourth place; Cayla Donahue, 12th; Katie Heiston, 15th.

Business Calculations - Jordan Winters, first; Kyle Byrne, third. Business Calculations

Business Communications - Laura Canfield, first; Amy Burgesser, second; Lindsay Foust, fourth.

Business Math - Hannah House, seventh; Damara McDonough, eighth.

Business Procedures - Becca Slate, second.

Economics - Kyle Reese, third.

Ashley Harrington of Hagerstown was named to the president's list at Union University, Jackson, Tenn., for earning a 4.0 grade-point average for the fall 2006 semester.




Kelli Lynn Foltz, daughter of Howard and Cheryl Foltz of Hagerstown, was named to the dean's list at Towson University, Towson, Md., for the fall 2006 semester.

She will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in speech language pathology.




Brian D. Benner, son of Dave and Lori Benner of Hagerstown was named to the dean's list at Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va., for the fall 2006 semester.




Robert J. "Robbie" Thompson III of Hagerstown, was named to the dean's list at Shenandoah University, Winchester, Va. for the fall 2006 semester.

Thompson, a 2005 graduate of North Hagerstown High School, is a sophomore majoring in business and minoring in psychology.

He is the son of Bobby and Jeannie Thompson of Hagerstown.




Cadet Kevin C. Pelletier of Williamsport, son of Marion S. Pelletier and Kevin J. Pelletier, was named to the dean's list at Virginia Miliary Institute, Lexington, Va., for the fall 2006 semester.

To be eligible for the dean's List, a cadet must have a grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and no grade below C.

A sophomore at VMI, Pelletier is majoring in international studies.
