Julie Ann Merrbaugh, daughter of Joel and Judy Merrbaugh of Hagerstown, was named to the dean's list at Hagerstown Business College for the spring 2006 term. A graduate of Clear Spring High School, she is studying law at HBC.




The following area students were named to the dean's list at McDaniel College, Westminster, Pa., for the fall 2006 semester:

Highest Honors (3.90 grade-point average or higher) - Chase D. Wolf of Middletown, Md.; Nadine L. Herson of Myersville, Md.

High Honors (3.70-3.89 GPA) - Laura Elaine Michael of Boonsboro; Adam C. Pritchard, Rachael A. Stecyk and Ashley Marie Smith of Frederick, Md.; Andrew M. Harrell and Bradley H. Eyler of Middletown; Matthew L. Rouse of Williamsport.

Honors (3.50-3.69 GPA) - Catherine J. Linton of Boonsboro; Deanna C. Broche and Laura E. Hutton of Frederick; Ashley R. Beattie of Hagerstown; Sarah Anne Huffer and Jessica Marie Peyton of Middletown; Katy Suzanne Powell of Smithsburg; Thao L. Tran of Williamsport.

The following area students were named to the dean's list at Messiah College, Grantham, Pa., for the fall 2006 semester:

Jennifer Dandy of Cascade, a senior majoring in Christian ministries.

Alix Work of Frederick, Md., a senior majoring in biophychology.

Erica Work of Frederick, a first-year student majoring in Christian ministries.

Corrie Jones of Hagerstown, a junior majoring in sport and exercise studies.

Brian Ramos of Hagerstown, a senior majoring in economics.

Alison Ronein of Middletown, Md., a a sophomore majoring in English.

David Ronein of Middletown, a senior majoring in engineering.

The following area students were named to the dean's list at Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va., for the fall 2006 semester:

The following local students received degrees from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va., at winter commencement ceremonies Dec. 16:

Anastasia Anderson of Hagerstown received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

Lyudmil Antonov of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the College of Engineering.

Dylan Thomas of Martinsburg, W.Va., who graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the College of Engineering.

Christopher Wagoner of Charles Town, W.Va., received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the Pamplin College of Business.




The following Washington County students recently graduated from Salisbury University, Salisbury, Md., at the winter commencement ceremonies held at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center:

Hagerstown area graduates include Allison Doucette, Bachelor of Science in marketing; Holly Ferris, Bachelor of Fine Arts in art; Sharew Hailu, Bachelor of Science in marketing; and Daniel West, Bachelor of Science in management.

Brian Flanders of Boonsboro received a Bachelor of Science in business administration.




Garrett M. Delaney, a 2006 graduate of Smithsburg High School, was named to the Dean's List for the College of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, for the fall 2006 semester.

Delaney, a sophomore, is attending UMBC on an academic scholarship, majoring in mechanical engineering.




The following area students were named to the dean's list at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va., for the fall 2006 semester:

Matthew R. Myers, of Rohrersville, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering in the College of Engineering.

Bradley P. Cline, of Hancock, a senior majoring in materials science and engineering in the College of Engineering.

Benjamin S. Sigler, of Hagerstown, a junior majoring in civil engineering in the College of Engineering.

Brett R. Bell, of Hagerstown, a senior majoring in political science in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

Brittany N. Gettleman, of Hagerstown, a junior majoring in biological sciences in the College of Science;

Brian A. Williamson, of Hagerstown, a sophomore majoring in political science in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

Hannah M. Smith, of Clear Spring, a freshman majoring in dairy science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Evan G. Thomas, of Martinsburg, W.Va., a freshman majoring in general engineering in the College of Engineering.

Dylan B. Thomas, of Martinsburg, a senior majoring in electrical engineering in the College of Engineering.
