LITTLE ORLEANS, Md. - Fourteen people from three families, including three students at Hancock Middle/Senior High School, were displaced by a house fire early Thursday in Little Orleans, an Orleans Volunteer Fire Department official said.

Two people were taken to Western Maryland Health System for evaluation after they escaped the fire at 11505 Price Road. About 30 firefighters battled the blaze, which was reported at 5:55 a.m., Capt. John Clingerman said.

The blaze damaged much of the families' belongings, including three vehicles, Clingerman said.

The house was not insured, said Clingerman, who estimated the losses at $175,000.
