Chamber of Commerce, Community Foundation team up for philanthropy

The Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce has again teamed with the Community Foundation of Washington County to host the annual Focus on Philanthropy and the presentation of the Nonprofit Impact Award.

Matt Beem, president of Hartsook Companies of Wichita, Kan., and a national leader among consultants to charitable organizations, will be the keynote speaker.

The annual Nonprofit Impact Award includes $1,000, which will be presented at the conclusion of the March 20 breakfast meeting. The annual awards breakfast and celebration of nonprofit organizations in Washington County will begin at 7:30 a.m.

The Nonprofit Impact Award recognizes a local nonprofit organization that is selected by its peers to have had the most positive impact on its constituents. Previous winners include Brook Lane Health Services, the Community Free Clinic and Children's Village of Washington County.

Sponsors include the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Community Foundation of Washington County, the law firm of McCurdy & Singer, Homewood Retirement Centers, Brook Lane Health Services, Susquehanna Bank, Sovereign Bank, First National Bank of Greencastle, Hagerstown Trust and Williamsport Retirement Village.

Coordinating agencies and organizations that helped plan the event include the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce and members of its Business and Community Development Committee, the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Community Foundation of Washington County, the United Way of Washington County and the Mason-Dixon Council of the Boys Scouts of America.
