Foundation offers scholarships for Panhandle seniors

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The City Hospital Foundation is offering scholarships to graduating seniors from the public and private high schools in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties.

The Judge Gray Silver Jr. Health Professions Scholarship Fund will award up to two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors at each of the high schools. The scholarships may be used at any accredited in or out-of-state college or university.

The criteria and applications for the Health Professions Scholarship Fund have been sent to the guidance counseling departments with a March 31 submission deadline.

A committee will select the scholarship recipients, based on the data supplied in their applications, including health profession being pursued, financial need, grades and community service activities.

The scholarships, renewable for up to four years, must be reapplied for on an annual basis.

The scholarships are aimed at encouraging and providing an incentive for college-bound students interested in pursuing a career in health care.
