Charges withdrawn against man in Greencastle robbery

February 07, 2007

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Charges against a man accused of robbing a Greencastle, Pa., business in December have been withdrawn due to insufficient evidence, but Andres Borges DeJesus still is being held on robbery charges in Fulton County.

DeJesus, of Mercersburg, Pa., had been charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy, theft, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person in connection with a Dec. 21 armed holdup at Greencastle Beverage Distributor, according to court records. He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Franklin County Central Court.

Assistant District Attorney Angela Krom said there was insufficient evidence to proceed "at this time," although the charges could be refiled at a later date. The problem with the case had to do with identification of DeJesus as one of the participants in the robbery, she said.

DeJesus was among seven people charged by Pennsylvania State Police in Fulton County with the Jan. 2 armed robbery of a F&M Trust Co. branch in Hustontown, Pa.

Police in Fulton and Franklin counties eventually charged 11 people with a series of holdups between Dec. 14 and Jan. 2, with some members of the group having participated in several robberies.
